Welcome to the web site of Sharon M. Wood. Author of A Devotional Journey Through Exodus, a workbook for Christian Bible Study.

A DEVOTIONAL JOURNEY THROUGH EXODUS is the product of the author’s conviction that we do not need to be theologians or Bible scholars to read and understand the Bible. It is her belief that we simply need to read God’s Word and let Him speak to us personally through those pages.

The devotional is unique in that it is a New Testament look at an Old Testament book. The study offers a balanced approach –not rushing ahead into the New Testament and missing the wisdom of God’s intervention in the lives of the people of the Old Testament and its relevance to us today. It is not an in depth study of Exodus. Using only the Bible, a NEW KING JAMES VERSION, a Webster’s Dictionary and an ordinary concordance, this devotional is purposefully not propped up by any commentaries or other studies on the book of Exodus.

There are 150 days of study—verse by verse—that are consecutively studied until the book of Exodus is completed. The author prefers inductive Bible study and so it covers small segments of scripture each day, not large segments or entire chapters. These shorter segments, she believes, produce good food for thought and personal growth.

Each day’s essay is accompanied by two additional sections: A BEGINNING PLACE FOR PRAYER TODAY and DISCUSSION QUESTIONS FOR TODAY. The prayer is a prayer of consideration for the reader and is used only to encourage the reader to meditate further on a personal level. The discussion questions are provided so that the reader can think through the essay on a more personal level. These questions also allow the book to be used as a group discussion study if so desired.

Interestingly, some of the Bible scriptures are not completely reproduced in the text of the book, but require the reader to have a Bible always close at hand. The author’s prayer is that the reader will develop a personal relationship with THE Author—God Himself—by reading His words daily.
